It seems that nothing is worth rebuilding in todays world. It costs more to restore most items then to buy a new one. Historical trains and planes sit and rust away because it will cost 15 times as much to restore it than it cost when new. Sad but true, It's A Disposable world. It's A Disposable World is part of the ongoing series of images called STEAM DREAMS. If you like this image please check out the whole series in the Steam Engines - Trains gallery.

Over the years Mike has dabbled in painting, sculpting & wood working as well as photography. Mike's turning point in his artistic abilities came when he learned how to use the dreaded computer in the mid 80s, then he could combine his love for art with his photographs. Mike's work has won numerous awards as well as being shown all over the country in galleries and museums. Now after 25 years of Commercial Photography in the High Point area, Mike now creates art full time, living just outside of Dunn North Carolina. "Welcome to the world as I see it. To smile, be happy and laugh as much as possible, that's what life should be about. I hope this shows through my work and makes you feel the same way." Mike

There is so much to look at in this work of art. Keeps the eye and the mind interested for a long time :) I like the use of the truck headlamps and the spot lights. Will the train light be lit up also? Just curious. Very unique!
Mike McGlothlen replied:
Unfortunately most of the steam engines are to expensive to restore so they are disposable also. Thank you Luke for your comments!
