Artist's Description
The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad # 481 is a steam engine built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1925. The line from Silverton to Durango was originally used to move gold and silver ore out of the San Juan Mountains, but passengers noticed the scenic views to be breath taking and the ride was to ultimately become a sought after tourist attraction. About Mike McGlothlen

Over the years Mike has dabbled in painting, sculpting & wood working as well as photography. Mike's turning point in his artistic abilities came when he learned how to use the dreaded computer in the mid 80s, then he could combine his love for art with his photographs. Mike's work has won numerous awards as well as being shown all over the country in galleries and museums. Now after 25 years of Commercial Photography in the High Point area, Mike now creates art full time, living just outside of Dunn North Carolina. "Welcome to the world as I see it. To smile, be happy and laugh as much as possible, that's what life should be about. I hope this shows through my work and makes you feel the same way." Mike
